ROCK AROUND THE CLOCK

FotoFlexer_Photo

Change of plan, due to unforseen circumstances this event has been cancelled. But the headline event for the 11th June is the Revolutionaires. 7pm – 11pm (FREE EVENT)

Redcar’s famous town centre clock won’t have seen anything like it since the fifties when the seaside resort hosts a major music event in June.

Rock around the Clock is the towns first ever all day authentic rock n roll show.

The show will be held at the Coatham Memorial Hall from 12 noon till 11 pm on Saturday June 11

Headlining the show will be Geordie rockers The Revolutionaires and Lincoln stompers The Hicksville Bombers.

The lineup also includes live performances from The Mee Kats and The Neutronz plus jiving contest and fifties music.

Ryan Humble one of the organisers said ‘this is a chance for people to enjoy a fantastic day of great music and dancing, the odd rock n roll band do appear at local venues but this is the first time an all day show has been organized. Redcar does have a fantastic music scene and this is something different to add to that.

This is the latest event to be held under the iconic banner of The Redcar Jazz Club which has been reborn at the Memorial Hall

SUNDAY 25TH OCTOBER 2009

Redcar Amateur Boxing Club departed on Wednesday October 21st to fly to sunny California where they Boxed in a tournament against Carlos Garcia’s Elite Boxing Academy.

During the 9 day stay the club will visited the famous Wild Card Gymnasium in Hollywood, home to the legendary fighter and Ricky Hatton conqueror Manny Pacquiao.

The group then travelled to Las Vegas to train in the world famous referee Richard Steele’s Vegas Gym.

The tournament took place in San Bernardino at the Rialto High School on Sunday 25th October with over 2000 spectators attending.

We bought commerative t-shirts for the opposing club as well as a special trophy and 2 boxes of Yorkshire Tea, Biscuits and a couple of bottles of Newcastle Brown Ale.

Our unique social enterprise activities helped pay for the trip of a lifetime for some of these youngsters which means the remaining days we can visit the famous Disneyland Park.

All the lads are from Grangetown, Eston, Dormanstown and Redcar and were looking forward to flying the flag for the UK in this unique and sporting cultural exchange.
